A temporary work company (ETT) is a company that serves as an intermediary to seek a job to a worker or, in parallel, a worker to an employer. Its legal regulation arises following the regulations established in Agreement 96 of the International Labor Organization approved in 1933 and modified in 1949, as different countries have adopted it, the corresponding national laws have been created. The concept of temporary work company was in principle in said agreement as "paid agency of placement", and defined "every person, society, institution, office or other organization" that served as an intermediary.

Temporary work companies need their activities to meet a series of requirements and an administrative authorization granted by the corresponding authorities as well as submit to periodic inspections and audits.
